CPAP Therapy

CPAP therapy may be prescribed for the management of sleep apnea and other related sleep-disordered breathing disorders. Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) is the treatment of choice for most people with obstructive and mixed apnea. By increasing the air pressure in your airway, CPAP treatment keeps your airway from becoming blocked or obstructed. CPAP uses a small, quiet air blower device connected through a hose to a mask you wear while you sleep. There are several types of positive airway pressure devices use to treat sleep apnea, including 1) CPAP, 2) bi-level positive airway pressure, and 3) responsive and “smart” airway pressure devices.

Drug-Free Insomnia Treatment

Many insomnia sufferers have found effective relief with a drug-free therapy called Multimodal Therapy for Insomnia (MMTI). This drugless treatment is conducted in the labs of our sleep disorder center. In a survey of patients who have undergone MMTI, 60-70% report results and another 10-12% report they received value from the therapy.

Screen Oximetry

We can screen patients for sleep apnea with a simple take home device. When combined with other clinical data, pulse oximetry recording can help identify those paitents who are unlikely to have obstructive sleep apnea before they are referred for unneeded polysomnographic studies.
