Philip M. Becker, M.D.

Dr. Becker is president and founding partner of Sleep Medicine Associates of Texas, P.A. Since 1987, he has served as Medical Director for the Sleep Medicine Institute at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas and is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. His primary specialty is in psychophysiologic functioning as it relates to sleep disorders and research, having a special interest in restless legs syndrome.

Dr. Becker has over twenty years experience in lecturing and teaching sleep disorders medicine at universities and facilities across the country.  He has published over 60 articles, chapters and abstracts on a variety of sleep disorders.  He has served as Treasurer for the American Board of Sleep Medicine, as a Medical Advisor to the Restless Legs Syndrome Foundation, and as the former Chair of the Health Policy Committee for the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. Other professional memberships include the Sleep Research Society, Society for the Biological Rhythm and Light Therapy, American Psychiatric Association and the Southern Sleep Society, where he served as president.

Andrew O. Jamieson, M.D.

Dr. Jamieson is Chairman of the Board and founding partner of Sleep Medicine Associates of Texas, P.A. Since 1988, he has been the Clinical Director for The Sleep Medicine Institute at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas and is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. His primary specialty is internal medicine as it relates to sleep disorders and research.

Active in sleep disorders medicine since 1985, Dr. Jamieson has served as a member of the Board of the American Sleep Disorders Association (ASDA). He is currently the ASDA's alternate delegate to the American Medical Association House of Delegates. Other professional memberships include the Sleep Research Society and the American College of Physicians.

Leon D. Rosenthal, M.D.

Dr. Rosenthal has been involved in the field of Sleep Medicine for over 15 years. He returned to Dallas to join Sleep Medicine Associates of Texas, P.A. in July of 2000. He spent over 12 years at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan where he acquired a broad experience in Sleep Medicine, which included activities in direct patient care, teaching and research. Dr. Rosenthal served as Medical Director of the Sleep Disorders and Research Center from 1994 until his departure from the Henry Ford Health System. His areas of expertise include Obstructive Sleep Apnea, Narcolepsy, Insomnia and pathologies associated with Excessive Daytime Sleepiness.

Dr. Rosenthal's contributions to the field include over 60 publications in Sleep Medicine, Otolaryngology, Psychiatry and Pulmonary Medicine journals. He has written chapters or served as an editor to several textbooks in Sleep Medicine. Dr. Rosenthal has been an invited speaker to National and International Conferences. His previous activities in the field have included a variety of appointments in the two major Sleep organizations. He has served as Publications Chair for the Sleep Research Society, and member of the Health Policy Committee of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). He has recently been appointed to serve in the International Affairs Committee of the AASM.

John R. Debus, M.D.

Dr. Debus began working with Sleep Medicine Associates of Texas in 2002. He is one of the attending physicians at the Sleep Medicine Institute, Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. He is Associate Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, where he serves on the faculty of the Sleep Medicine Fellowship Program, training new Sleep Medicine physicians.

Dr. Debus received his medical degree from UT Southwestern, and completed his psychiatry residency and a research fellowship there, involved in sleep studies and psychopharmacology trials. He was on the full-time faculty there, before going into private practice in north Dallas. He has been active in clinical research for many years in psychopharmacology and more recently in sleep disorders. He has published in the areas of psychopharmacology, brain imaging, and sleep. He is an active lecturer and teacher.

Dr. Debus is a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the American Psychiatric Association, the American Academy of Clinical Psychopharmacology, the Society of Biological Psychiatry, and the American Medical Association. He is board certified in Sleep Medicine by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and by the American Board of Sleep Medicine. He is also board certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He has been named a Fellow of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.

Dr. Debus has interests in sleep apnea, insomnia, restless legs syndrome, excessive sleepiness, neuropsychopharmacology, and the nutritional aspects of sleep disorders.

D. Heath Roberts, D.D.S.

Dr. Roberts is Director of Oral Appliance Therapeutics for Sleep Medicine Associates of Texas, P.A. He is a licensed dentist and has a private dental practice as an associate with W. Keith Thornton, D.D.S., Inc. Although he serves as visiting faculty for the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Baylor College of Dentistry, his primary interest is in utilizing oral appliances for non surgical treatment of patients who suffer from sleep disordered breathing.

Dr. Roberts devotes a substantial portion of his time to traveling nationwide to educate and train other health professionals in the proper use of oral appliance therapy. He also manages several research projects in the field of oral appliance therapy for non surgical treatment of snoring and obstructive sleep apnea. Professional memberships include the Sleep Disorders Dental Society and the American Sleep Disorders Association.
